Abstract of the 197th meeting of CCEP
The 197th meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Earthquake Prediction(CCEP) was held at the Kanto Regional Survey Department of the GSI on November 21, 2012. At first, Professor Kazuo Hirahara was elected as the new chairman, after the resignation of ex-chairman Professor Kunihiko Shimazaki. Next, observation data and research results about seismic activities and crustal deformations in Japan were reported and discussed. Moreover, "Megathrust earthquakes and tsunamis in the world. " as intensive discussion subject were discussed. Finally, purport of next intensive discussion subject " Summary of the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake. " was explained.
- Organization of CCEP of the 22nd committee.
Prof. Hirahara of Kyoto University was elected as the new chairman. Prof.Hirahara nominated Prof. Yamaoka as a new vice-chairman and Prof.Nishigami as the leader of West-Japan sub-committee. It is proposed that the ex-chaiman, Prof. Shimazaki was recommended to be an honorary committee member, and this proposal was approved.

A poposal to organaize a new sub-committe, "Future activity consideration working group" (tentative name), was approved.
